Fishing Trophies

Team Comfortably Numb 2

I would like to thank you and the entire SI-TEX staff for your support this past year. The Genesis unit has proved itself and put us on our fishing areas time after time. It has held up when the weather conditions turned ugly. I like the remote control capability, it allows us to operate the unit with ease while running close to 60mph. Here is a picture of Jake's 48 pounder at Nationals this year. We ended up placing 10th in the 23Class, also we received the SKA's Dan Schaad Family Achievement Award. Thankyou,
Eric Smith

Coast 2 Coast Charaters

"I used my SI-TEX Max10 GPS WAAS Charting System to return to a specific location that I found to be successful several weeks ago and my CVS-106L color sounder to zoom-in and lock on to a small rock pile that displayed this fish!
Thanks SI-TEX."

"With the help of our SI-TEX CVS-208 color fishfinder, we spotted a big fish at 60 ft. and immediately dropped our Cannon Downrigger to that depth. Low and behold we hooked and landed a 60 pound Kingfish worth $28,000 and 2nd place in the 2001 Kingmaster 100 in Biloxi, Mississippi. Thank you
SI-TEX!"

Open Wide Fishing Team

"We were fishing a small ledge 18 miles offshore of Bogue Inlet in about 78 feet of water. The kings were hanging on the deep side of the ledge feeding on baitfish which I could mark clearly on my Genesis unit. The ledge was so small that if I went off the number .15 of a mile then I was off the strike zone for kings and into the AJ and sharks. It was crucial that I crossed right over the ledge to get a strike. The Genesis unit kept us in the strike zone and we hooked up with a quadruple header of kings. The large king hit 28ft down exactly where the Genesis marked the balled up suspended bait. We had two other smaller kings on the top lines.
The largest king weighed 42.05 lbs and took home first place honors for the Open Wide fishing team in the Carteret County Sportfishing Association King Mackerel Tournament and pocketed us over 21,000 dollars.
Thank you SI-TEX for a superior product that kept us on the feeding school of kings!".

"When your on the water 180 days a year you not only need a tough boat, but tough electronics.  That is why we choose SI-TEX electronics.  Day after day you can count on repeatable performance from their sounders to put you on fish and their radars will bring you back to port safely.  Thanks again SI-TEX and we can't wait for this coming season."

High Life Fishing

Team Futch

Just a note to say thanks to SI-TEX. With the help of my new CVS-106L and my Nautilus NT iGPS Team Futch Charters had a truly remarkable season. With 2 second place finishes and 2 first place finishes out of 5 in the all catch and release Hollinswood Tournaments. The last win was the Captains Classic in July, three fish to the boat in a little over an hour for a come from behind victory. Giving me the captain of the year trophy. All I can say is if it doesn't say SI-TEX it doesn't go to sea with me. You can read the story on my web site as it was printed in the Boca Beacon

October 21st and 22nd, 2002 started out like any other day. James Rowley, Philip, Stan and Steve Collins were aboard Capt. Tommy Pellegrin's "HIGH LIFE" a 30' Gravois custom built aluminum boat equipped with a SI-TEX Nautilus NT iGPS, a SI-TEX T-185 Radar and a Koden CVS-108 sounder. After a 75 mile run Wonderland was found, its a hill coming from 500 feet of water to 175 feet. I call it Wonderland because I always wonder what we will catch next. On those two days the record books were not safe. After finding some fish the catching began, one 1st place Black Grouper, 3 Marbled Groupers, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, one Red Grouper 1st, one Yellowmouth Grouper 2nd, and one Sand Tile that made 1st. All of these fish will be, when approved, Louisiana State Records. With this trip included that will make 32 Louisiana State Records and 8 IGFA World Records that have been caught aboard the "HIGH LIFE" since it was built in 1999 and equiped with SI-TEX Electronics. Here is a picture of Steve Collin's Red Grouper that was caught that day.

Fishing onboard the Contender En Fuego

Here is a 275 lb. Bluefin Tuna I caught this year with the help of the SI-TEX CVS-106 Colorscope. The CVS-106 is extremely effective for distinguishing types of bait by color & depth. When looking for Bluefin Tuna, they are often on top of "Croaker Mounds". When you see one of these - mark your spot and get ready for a reel to go off!  Without my CVS-106 - who knows what structure I'd have under me. Thanks SI-TEX for all the help.

Tight Lines Fishing Charters

"The fish don't stand a chance. Repeated accuracy is very important in the charter business. On a half-day trip, I need to run out and find the spot, right now, and get on the hook. There are certain spots on ledges and reefs that I need to go back to for success. My GPS-90D is all over them every time. Sarasota county has a wonderful reef program. There are certain piles of reed that produce certain fish. Some piles are big as the boat, so you need to be on the spot. The 30+ inch true black grouper that first mate Stacy Capps is holding came off a small pile of reef to the east of a wreck. I count on that spot for nice grouper and Mangrove & Yellowtail snapper. There is a small spot to the north. That spot we can count on Black fin tuna. Far as marking the ledges, springs and reefs we fish daily, the high-powered CVS-832 marks the spot and lets me know who's home. With the coloration and density I can tell what species of fish are lurking and what depth they are holding at. Unfortunately for my anglers, the Amber jack mark a certain way, but they are relieved when we can see the snapper coming up, under the boat, in the chum slick. Off Sarasota, may of the good breaks where grouper hold are only 1 to 2 ft. tall, so finding these spots and marking fish is very important. With the GPS and the CVS working together, along with fishing reports coming in over the Ultima VHF radio, the fish don't stand a chance."

A "Real Life Story" by Bob Clement

During the recent national championship[November 2002 SKA National Championship Tournament in Biloxi] - as expected - the seas were terrible on Friday. We had received a tip from a local as to where the fish might be found. The only problem was it was 95 miles away and the seas were about 8 feet high and the wind was blowing 20 to 25 knots.
We made the run - and in fact caught a fish. However, when we decided to return to Biloxi 90 miles away, we lost one of our engines due to overheating and another was starting to miss rather badly. Good thing we have 3 motors however going 90 miles in an 8 ft. sea with one good motor and one missing was not a good thing. It was a very slow trip, having to stop every so often to tend to the ailing motors. We calculated our trip return time and discovered we would never make it back in time for weigh-in. What's worse; we wouldn't even make it back before dark!
Considering these factors, we decided to turn toward Dauphin Island, which was about 15 miles closer, to try and beat the dark. We failed in that attempt, and as we watched the sun setting on the Gulf, we knew we had problems. The Gulf is a very dangerous place with all the oil rigs and platforms - some not even lit. But we put our trust in our C-MAP C-card and SI-TEX chart plotter and began our trip into a channel none of us had ever navigated at night.
To make things worse, our Q-beam light had broken on the trip out (due to the rough ride) and we had no light to help guide us; only our chart plotter and C-MAP chip. Steering through the channel shown on the chart plotter was like playing a video game! We'd look up and see unlit markers and oil pipes going by the boat, but with the help of C-MAP and
SI-TEX, we finally made it to the dock around 8:30 PM, wet and cold but safe.
We all agreed that without our electronics and C-MAP chip (to say the least), we would have had a very difficult time returning without incurring a serious accident under such adverse conditions. Thank you C-MAP and SI-TEX electronics… We will never be without you!
